Volunteering can make an amazing difference to you and us at Ponthafren, helping us Promote Positive Mental Health. We welcome and value volunteers from all walks of life and we have a range of volunteer roles in which you can give us, the gift of your time.

Administrative Volunteer

Expand

Administrative Volunteers are individuals who help the teams in our offices. Administrative volunteers are able to learn and develop skills and knowledge within a busy office environment. Developing a greater understanding of inputting information into spreadsheets and tables. Developing relationships with new people and gaining experience working alongside a friendly team.

Volunteer Support Worker

Volunteer Support Workers are individuals who volunteer to support individuals who enter the centre. They offer guidance and can sign post to other organisations and make relevant referrals in-house. 

VSW's can volunteer as often as they want, and to times that suit them. Becoming a VSW is often a way to meet new people as well as learn and develop new skills.

To become a VSW you must undergo a enhanced DBS check as you will be volunteering with vulnerable adults.

Trustee

Trustees have overall control of Ponthafren and are responsible for ensuring we do what was set out to do. Being a Trustee means making strategic decisions that will impact others, and making sure we make a difference to our local community. To become a trustee you must be appointed. Trustees main duties are to:

  1. Ensure Ponthafren is carrying out its purpose for the public benefit
  2. Comply with Ponthafrens governing document and the law
  3. Act in Ponthafrens best interests
  4. Manage Ponthafrens resources responsibly
  5. Act with reasonable care and skill
  6. Ensure Ponthafren is accountable 

We at Ponthafren require our Trustees to:

  1. Have proven leadership skills and a number of years experience at Management level
  2. Have proven success in charitable fundraising or success in winning tenders from commissioning bodies
  3. Be able to work in partnership with other organisations
  4. Clear understanding of organisational finance and experience of preparing and monitoring budgets
  5. Experience of working with vulnerable adults
  6. Strong understanding of legal obligations in terms of HR, Finance and Boards of Trustees.

Volunteer Gardener

Ponthafren in Newtown has an exceptional garden, and without the time, effort and dedication of our Garden volunteers Ponthafren would no be able to maintain the garden in all its glory. Ponthafren is also fortunate enough to have a garden space in the Powis Castle grounds which is managed by Ponthafren volunteers.

Gardening Volunteers are extremely helpful especially during the planting, potting and harvesting stages of the year. Volunteer Gardeners can be anyone, although gardening experience is handy!

Fundraising Volunteer

Fundraising Volunteers are hugely important to us at Ponthafren; having individuals who freely give up their time to help organise and man events is truly appreciated. Being a fundraising volunteer can entail many jobs: whether this be organising or creating events or giving the gift of your time to help raise vital funds to help us continue to provide our services.

Volunteer Counsellor / Volunteer Trainee Counsellor

In order to help increase the capacity for our counselling service Ponthafren appreciates volunteer counsellors - whether this be qualified or trainee. 

In order to provide a safe and effective counselling service, Ponthafren requiries all its counsellors (whether qualified or student, paid or voluntary) to be a member of the BACP or similar governing body, undergo regular clinical supervision, have your own insurance, and meet requirements for continual professional development.

Also we offer placements for student counsellors to become a qualified, providing a safe learning environment for students to complete their 100 hours of appointments.

This role requires an enhanced DBS.
